As long as we are making excuses for our sinfulness we will never grow spiritually. We grow spiritually when we are humbly acknowledging our sin and doing something about it. You see, if spiritual growth is a process in which there is the decreasing frequency of sin, then spiritual growth must include a dealing with sin, you see? You have to be dealing with it. And how do you deal with it? You acknowledge that you are responsible for it, thats first. We dont blame our circumstance, we dont blame our husband, our wife, our boyfriend, our girlfriend, our boss, we dont blame our employees, we dont blame the pastor. You, you blame yourself. We dont even blame the devil and that went around for a long time; the devil made you do it. We still have things today that people believe demons make them do everything. It isnt demons, and it isnt the devil, and it isnt the circumstances, and it isnt our friends, and so forth. All of that system contributes to the problem, but ultimately sin, every time it occurs, is an act of the will, and you are responsible....JMacArthur
