As lovely as they are, your doula, childbirth educator, or friend may not be the best source of information for what is best for you and your baby in pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. Consider the source, ask for evidence-real evidence, and question everything...even when it just makes sense. Make a decision that you feel best about, that you wouldnt agonize over later if you experienced complications. Dont immediately throw out the information that you get from your midwife or doctor in favor of a more natural alternative. I cant tell you how many times that I have seen women limit their options rather than expanding them, or put themselves at risk because their childbirth educator said so, or doula said so, or online friends say so.... I know this status will anger some. I really dont mind. I am not serving the birth community, I am serving women.
