As many have said already next Weekend cant come soon enough. For me this has been a long journey and this race came along at exactly the right time. My journey starts in anger over 4 years ago. Director of a bank in the city, trudging the treadmill, massively overweight, we dont talk how much, But not LIVING. So I stopped, left the city and started putting life back on track. Taking kids to school (4yrs and 8yrs) and picking them up, living life again. To begin with I reverted to cycling and swimming to pull the weight off. Then switched to INSANITY and ran through that 4 (not a typo) times but they are all lonely workouts by myself. Motivation comes externally as well as internally for me. Then last November a new club for older blokes opened up near me called Manalive by a PT called Craig OToole who felt his gym based business wasnt cutting it and wanted to create something new for 30+yrs old and looking to make a change. I threw my hat in. I am,12 months later, in the shape of my life. Weve had mountain climbing trips, canoe trips, countless OCR events together and a social network that puts my college days to shame, simply brilliant. To boot there isnt just me coming from ManAlive but also Chris . I now own a Salon and Spa, a new clothing line for ladies launches in a couple of weeks called WildBangarang and sure its tough but being in this shape gives me a zest of life again. We had a promo video shot of the training and posted here so you can all meet Chris.. Hes the guy at the start ;) Ive got long blue socks on and on Chris right at the start stood at the back. However I will say this, if the director had said one more time, one more time I doubt he would have left the pitch intact, I think the footage of the tyre drag was the 8th take ;p youtu.be/dfiESWaNyX8 So thank you once again OCRteam for making my year and I will see some of you Friday night and all of you Saturday. Our #WarCry is MARU. MARRRUUUU
