As many know, over the weekend there was an engaged dialogue on the Smithers Customer Service Review Facebook group regarding problem behaviour in our downtown core, specifically around Bovill Square. On Monday, Deputy Mayor Wray and I met with the Smithers RCMP, the Salvation Army, Broadway Place Shelter, Positive Living North and Town staff to discuss the issue. One thing that came out of the meeting was a need to clarify the RCMPs role in responding to incidents. Our thanks to Staff Sergeant Kirstin Marshall for providing a detailed note outlining when and how the RCMP responds.
