As many of my facebook family and friends know, my aunt, Bette (Board) Wilson, is in declining health and we, as her family are supportive of her decision to go forward in her journey. As I sat in the nursing home with my heart torn to shreds, two people came to visit my aunt, because they were told that my aunts health is declining, and her time here is limited. It was Nick Sandavol and his wife Rita Sandoval. Not only did they both give me that hug that someone gives u when they know your SOUL needs it, not just ur body, but Nick told me that WE r family. As in we the EASTSIDERS. I thought about what he said and I remembered that all the lessons i have learned, the strong friendships i have, the morals and values that i had instilled in me, came from the fact that I was raised on the EASTSIDE, by EASTSIDERS, who have strong sense of family and values. i thought of all the people I was raised with, and we all dont have the same last name, our skins may not match, but we ARE family and WE DAMN SURE COME TOGETHER when times call for it. i have always been proud of the people I come from and the place where I grew up. I want to thank all my friends and family for their support during our families troubled times, but i especially want to thank the people i grew up with who are always there no mastter the time or distance.........EASTSIDER
