As many of you already know we have been offered a spot during the Cars to Bars event on McCulloch Blvd. October 19th from 5 to 9pm, set up can begin around noon. The area we have been offered is large enough to perform an exhibition, to bring awareness to our hobby and the need for funds to build a new facility. I was hoping to have some help from Horizon Hobby, but I have recently learned they unfortunately can not make it. So as of now Hot Rock has agreed to help with bringing out some inventory for display, their Ez-Up, and tables. I have not had any response from the prospective club members and I am unable to do this on my own. So what I need by September 23 is a commitment from at least 5 people to help before and during the event. I will need people that can talk to people and answer questions and some that can drive cars or both. The driving is the big thing. If you drive at this event you need to be aware of the crowd so not to injure anyone while jumping or whatever else we can set up to perform on. This will require you to drive your own car, truck, or buggy, and it will be a freestyle jump on asphalt, so damage or broken parts are a possibility. The event organizers have requested that we appear and perform professionally. We are representing the club, the track, the city, and the rc car industry, to people that have may have never been exposed to it before. (As a side note, I wasn’t planning on driving due to my inexperience at this type of venue) What needs to happen before the event. We need to have a P.A. system,(I may be able to do something using some of the track equipment), a jump or jumps, and anything else we can think of to be built (which is going to require material), Have fliers printed to hand out with information about the club, track relocation, the type of racing, how to contact, etc;. And I would also like to have shirts made up. They don’t need to be anything crazy, a screen printed t-shirt or embroidered golf style shirt all the same color with London Bridge RC Car Club or LBRC on them (I kinda like LBRC). If you know someone that can help any with of these things, that will reduce the cost, please let me know. The next thing is the money that will be needed for materials. Now this event has the potential to get us more donations, or it may not, I can’t guarantee anything, you don’t know unless you try. It’s up to the club if you want to pull funds from what we have to do this, if so great, if not then we don’t have to do the event. I just can’t afford to pull money out of my pocket to make this happen .The spot has been offered for free but the building materials for the jumps, printing fliers, and shirts will cost some money. Because Facebook is the fastest way to get the message out to everyone, I can go off of the response I get here. If you know someone that is not on Facebook please pass the word on to them. A simple “YES” or “NO” will work. If you are placing a vote for someone else please put a name with their vote. This vote is only for if you approve or disapprove of using money we have. This will be a club decision. Again, the event organizers, Desert Steel Productions, and Mad Action Media, who have been following our progress, and have been so generous to offer this up to us for free, have requested this be as PROFESSIONAL has we can make it. I would hate to pass on this opportunity but I have to be fair to everyone, the club, myself, and the event organizers, and give plenty of notice if we are going to back out. Thank you, Scott Welte
