As many of you begin your off-season strength training period consider doing some combine style pre-testing. Collecting objective data allows you to assess your current level and to better set goals on where you want to be. It also lets you compare your performance against that of your competition. Last, when you go to do post-testing it will tell you if your training is working. Having run hundreds of people through the Serpentine Agility Test it has become quite easy to pick out the ones that have a solid strength base and those that do not. Remember, cutting and change of direction is about absorbing and producing force on a single leg. The Serpentine assess your ability to do just that. Simply stated, that faster your Serpentine time higher chance your have of performing as a cutter. The way we train these qualities is through eccentric plyo, IFP/OFP agility and functional strength training progressions. Have any of you ever timed this test? What is your best time?
