As many of you know, I have Hashimotos, which is autoimmune - TopicsExpress

As many of you know, I have Hashimotos, which is autoimmune hypothyroidism, meaning that my body has mounted an attack on my thyroid gland. I was originally diagnosed 5 1/2 years ago (along with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and Adrenal Dysfunction) when I was 24, and while I am feeling much better these days, I can distinctly remember how overwhelming the fatigue and physical depression was. I literally had to give myself a pep talk in order to get up off the couch to get a glass of water because it felt like such an insurmountable task -- so you can only imagine how hard it was to muster up the energy to exercise. Thats why I LOVE this article from Ann Wendel (who also has Hashimotos) about exercise and autoimmune illness. Almost 40 million women in America have been diagnosed with AI, and that number doesnt begin to encompass the women who have not yet been diagnosed, or who have been diagnosed with something thats only suspected to be an AI, and not yet confirmed. So basically -- this affects a TON of women, and if youre pushing yourself too hard, exercise can make your AI symptoms WORSE. Check out Anns article about managing your AI with an intelligent exercise program. #GirlsGoneStrong
