As many of you know, I have an ongoing battle with Systemic Lupus. An unfriendly autoimmune disease that I was diagnosed with 17 years ago. Like most people with chronic illnesses, Ive had highs and lows. The more time that passes, the lows stretch out further and the highs seem shorter. The pain never truly goes away, not even during a 24 hour period. You learn to deal with the pain and even mask it. It beats you down slowly over time. You know that the Lord is with you and loves you but dealing with suffering can drive you out of your tree. Fortunately, God has blessed me with incredible prayer warriors and soul sisters! I have been blessed with a helpful and understanding husband, daughter and dear friends but I cant sugar coat it and say that its easy. Unfortunately, we all can experience compassion fatigue. People lead busy lives just like us and forget the suffering of folks with chronic illnesses. Ive wanted to do things for others and simply couldnt physically do it. I pray we know how much our High Priest loves us and has not/will not forsake us in our time of need. God be praised for all of the beautiful hands that minister to those hurting, whether in body or spirit! Thank those that help and reach out to minister to you!
