As many of you know I was in private security for 15 years about 9 of those I was also an industrial firefighter. I guess once a firefighter always one as last Sunday evening as I pulled up to Kroger here in Richmond a car fire had just began. While everyone else was looking and videoing it, instinct just jumped over me. We carry an extinguisher in both cars and as soon as I parked I got it out and headed over to the car. It wasnt that I was too concerned about the car itself, but the exposure to the other cars around parked near it in what couldve became much worse thsn it did! As I exhausted my extingusher just being able to keep it knocked down some, I turn around and yell at the on looking Kroger employees inquiring if they dont have extingushers in the store. An employee ran back in to get a large dry chem that I was able to use to keep the fire contained to the front half of the car until Richmond Fire Department got there and as the owner of that vehicle and other vehicles where able to come move theirs. Yeah, I miss some of that. Even more importantly Im happy yo still assist when and where I can AND most importantly to have a fit and healthy body to respond fast enough if ever needed. Good job to the officers of Richmond Fire Department!
