As many of you know, last Saturday my dad fell down a flight of stairs (ironically the day before he was cleared for full use of his brand new completely replaced knee.). He has been in the surgical ICU with a moderate traumatic brain injury, consisting of bleeding & contusions in various locations. We are so thankful that he is currently progressing medically as hoped. The next step will be rehab to regain his brain functioning. We are currently in the stages of confusion w aphasia, and slight agitation (dang those tubes & gloves). We pray we make the right rehab decision, and will have the ability to get him into the facility we choose. That is the medical summary, as simplified as it gets. As far as the info we all want to know...there is simply no way to give a prognosis. There is not way to get a time frame. You can take 10 people with the exact same injury, and have 10 drastically different outcomes. We do know the fact he is so smart and fit (snicker:) are only helpful & the docs say he should rehab well. What I do know...his heart & mind are fine. I can tell by the way he rolls his eyes at me, and his occasional smirk. He was cracking us all up with his typical facial expressions yesterday and we dont need him to say it to know what he is thinking. I know he is strong & will do everything in his power to be the best Rehabber in the class. I also know that he hates that we are worried about him & he doesnt want my mom, granny or any of us to be upset. He would be telling us to relax & that he is fine. I also know he has more friends than anyone I have ever met (and such a variety:). We also have Faith, family & hope. KEEP PRAYING! If you are in town there is a group meeting to pray the Rosary for him this Monday @ 6:30PM at St. Agnes. All welcome. I cannot thank you enough for all the words, thoughts, prayers, help, food, housekeeping, patience...we are graciously overwhelmed with the support & love I appreciate every one of you. Still no visitors, but there will be a point when visitors will be very important. We will let you know!...(gotta ease the confusion first, to help w recovery.) Thank you, thank you, thank you.
