As many of you know, the past several months and weeks have been a bit of a struggle for me for a variety of reasons. Preparing students for future employment and careers is what Ive known for the last eight plus years. With my future employment still in limbo at the present time, its students and emails like the following that make the potential permanent job loss really hard to understand. I dont see myself as anything special in the classroom but I do try my best with all circumstances provided. This student was in a first term class and yes, I permit them to call me Eric if they are comfortable doing so. The email: Hello Eric, I wanted to let you know that I notified the YTI registrar that I am withdrawing from the EET course because I was hired for a full time position. It was a position that I vigorously pursued and interviewed for back in December but the position was put on hold until recently when they finally decided to fill it and offered me the job. I also wanted to thank you for your time and making a subject like “Career Success” a little more bearable for all of us. It’s not the most exciting subject matter but your teaching style and keeping us engaged made all the difference for this class. Good luck with your marathon and I wish you well in the future.
