As many of you know, this weekend I am moving to Cairo where I will serve as RELO for the next three years. Before I go, I want to say welcome to Denise Lowery, your new RELO, who arrived about a week ago and whom I’m sure you’ll meet here soon. How fast these three years with you have gone. But that’s what happens when you’re happy. I’ve been happy mostly because of you, my colleagues and friends around Belad al-Sham. Thank you. You inspire me because with all the hardship you deal with in your lives, you continue to focus on doing the best job you can in your role as educators. Together, we’ve built a lot – a fine regional conference at the ALC each January, ever-improving Access programs, many projects with our EL Fellows including the FELT professional development course, and most importantly, this group and its sister in Syria. As I move to Cairo to begin my work with your colleagues there, I will continue to look for you here to find out what you’re up to. I hope that way I won’t miss you too much!
