As many of you will have read in the paper and online in the last few weeks, the Town Council has agreed to buy the old Social Services building on Christchurch Street West from Somerset County Council and create a Frome Community Hub. Frome Community Hub will be a dynamic space where local groups can come and meet, community services can be provided and offices can be rented. This community space will belong to the people of Frome, a place where Frome Life begins and where you can pop in 24/7 to get answers about and engage with community life. Along side offices and shared spaces for community groups there will be a large conference room and a number of smaller meeting rooms. The response we’ve had so far from everyone I’ve spoken to has been really positive and if all goes well Frome Community Hub will be up and running in March/April next year. The Town Council plans to take out a Government loan at a fixed low rate to buy the building and restore it. The rental income we receive from letting out offices and meeting rooms will cover the cost of the loan repayments and there will be no impact on the amount of council tax that you pay as a result of this project. At this early stage I’d really like your thoughts on the Community Hub, so please can you spare a little time, click on this link and complete the questionnaire. Many thanks in advance Paul Wynne, Town Clerk Frome Town Council The closing date for this survey is 9 July. If you have any questions about this consultation or about the Frome Community Hub in general please call Laura on 01373 475576 or email Laura at [email protected] Please share with as many people as possible.
