As most of my friends know, our Moxie crossed over the Rainbow - TopicsExpress

As most of my friends know, our Moxie crossed over the Rainbow Bridge this weekend. She was a very large dog, over 100 pounds and had in the last year gone blind. She had spent 11 of her 12 or 13 years living with us on our acreage. She guarded and policed that 5 acres and knew every inch of it. When blindness set in, she still made her rounds, albeit a little slower as time went on. When she knew her time was at hand she went out to the cornfield and layed down and had her last breath. When we couldnt find her, we searched all over and my husband found her laying at the end of the cornrow in the tall weeds. She hadnt been hurt and just layed down. We buried her on a piece of the land near the cornfield in the yard she protected for so many years leaving us grateful that we found her body and knew exactly what had happened and also that she did not die in pain or that we had to make a decision to have her put down. Tomorrow I take my other dog, Raven, she is only 7, and is a Silky Terrier, she has a large mass growing on her chest near her one of her nipples. The vet will determine if it is cancerous or benign and if it has spread to other parts of her body. I am praying and hoping that it is benign and we do not have to make a decision to put her down if it is cancer and has spread. I do not believe in allowing animals to suffer, same as people. I am nearly 60 years old and have over my life time lost many pets, but the pain of losing two of them is pretty overwhelming to me right now. I have 5 small dogs altogether, and I am not a dog hoarder but I just love animals and love my dogs. It is a fact of life that every thing that lives must die, same for people and animals. I would just like to remind everyone to please, take good care of your animals, and remember, that they too will pass from this world at some time. Give them all the love you can, while you can and make their lives happy ones, as I know that my Moxie was a very happy dog.
