As most of those reading this know, PANO initiated the drive for higher wages for the NOPD. Significantly higher. The reason was simple. You are underpaid and overworked, have not had a pay raise in 8 years. The Civil Service Commission agreed, and suggested raises of 20-30%. The DOJ agreed, writing in their investigations that NOPD had to have a competitive compensation package. Such significant pay raises were needed to help stop the exodus of experienced officers and to recruit Grade A applicants. Amazingly enough, the City Council and Mayor all recognized the need for such significant raises and realized the benefits of such. We would keep more cops, start filling our drastically depleted department, increase morale and improve public safety. So why didnt you get such a raise? Anyone care to answer?
