As most of you know, I am a grandparent who has been taking care of my three grandchildren for eight years now. The daily struggles of life tending to your duties as a grandparent, stepping into the shoes as both, the mother and father of the children concerned, goes unrewarded where you feel useless and unloved. The love that a grandparent shares with a grandchild is sometimes misunderstood. Is our age the problem?...YES!...a barrier that we as grandparents find hard to break through to come to a united understanding with the younger generation. But what I find now...with the Non-Smacking Law...it surely puts a dampener on our Maori culture. How does one educate respect? I am finding this very hard as my three are standing up to this very vulnerable grandma...so can you please help and advise?.....Thank You.
