As most of you know, I work for The John Purdue Club. Our mission - TopicsExpress

As most of you know, I work for The John Purdue Club. Our mission is to raise scholarship dollars for our approximate 500 student-athletes. As a self-supporting department, memberships are vital to ensure we help these young men and women gain an education. In other words, no tax dollars, student fees, or university funding supports Purdue Athletics. Of course we want our teams to win, but we also want to make sure each student is armed with a world-class education and leadership skills that will make them productive citizens. In many cases, these individuals are the only ones in their families to be given this opportunity. At JPC we try very hard to educate our student-athletes about how their education is funded. Every year we host a Thank-a-thon in which each of the 18 teams takes a night and calls JPC members, thanking them for their membership and support. Last night, the mens basketball team made their thank you calls. The following was posted on one of the blogs followed by Purdue fans. Thank you to the anonymous blogger; its what we strive for. Isaac Haas! I was driving home when my cell phone rang and it was Isaac on the other end thanking me for my JPC contribution. He was extremely polite, well spoken and likeable. Seems like a genuinely nice kid. I know that there are some here that advocate withholding donations until changes are made, but I dont see the efficacy in that. Why starve an already struggling athletic department? Seems counterproductive. It was nice receiving that call and it reminded me that there is a positive impact being made by the JPC far beyond wins and losses.
