As most of you know, my Buddy (12y) has had surgery today. We recently found an oral tumour in his lower lip which looked nasty and the vet also suspected bone cancer in his hip. Today was the day, he went through surgery without problems, but hey - a huge piece of his lip is missing now! Thank god he is a boxer and has some lip material, it would have been difficult to cut out that much in another breed. We have to wait for the lab results and needless to say I am very worried. At least bone cancer if off the table as the x-ray showed! He got a number of lumps and bumps removed while under and as I was getting ready to sit with him in his cage until he wakes up, he decided he did not want to wait and woke up within 5 minutes and insisted in walking around! What a trooper! Now he is home, a bit irritated by the stitches in his mouth and the after effects of the anesthesia. Please keep your fingers crossed that the oral tumour was a benign one although it looked very nasty!
