As most of you know, we have some changes coming to the way ABC 33/40 is delivered over the air. If you are on satellite (DirecTV or Dish Network) or cable, this wont impact you in any way. However, if you receive the ABC 33/40 signal over-the-air, via antenna, this is important. As of September 29th, channels on 33 and 40 will go off the air, and the only way to receive ABC 33/40 programming over the air is on 68-dot-2, 17-dot-2 and 58-dot-1. If you watch ABC 33/40 on 33-dot-1 or 40-dot-1, you will need to rescan your television to make sure you still receive our news, weather and programming. By broadcasting on 68-dot-2 from a tower atop Red Mountain in Birmingham, ABC 33/40’s signal will be much stronger in Jefferson and Shelby counties. If you live in Tuscaloosa or live anywhere in West Alabama, 17-dot-2 will give you a strong signal; it is atop a 2,000 foot tower in Tuscaloosa. Now, to receive James Spann 24/7 and the Heartland network, here are some instructions... Rescan your television to pick up James Spann 24/7 on 68-dot-3 and 58-dot-2, depending on where you live. For the Heartland network, rescan your television to 58-dot-3. If you have friends or family who watch ABC 33/40 over-the-air, please tell them to rescan their television sets by SEPTEMBER 29th and they wont miss a newscast or program.
