As most of you may know, I both organize and teach Gregorian Chant - TopicsExpress

As most of you may know, I both organize and teach Gregorian Chant in Spiddal, County Galway, every Monday night. What is Gregorian Chant? Gregorian Chant is a style of liturgical singing, that was sung, and evolved, between 8th. and 12th. century. It was sung in Latin and was generally sung unison, though simple polyphonies evolved through the centuries. Gregorian Chant encompasses a great variety of musical traditions, because it was sung over that many centuries in that many countries. Just so you get a sense of what that singing style is (because I know my poster, lovely and yellow as it is, does not give much of a sense of what Chant is), I like, on occasion, to post video samples of Gregorian Chant. When I do that, I tend to post samples from Ensemble Discantus, because, to me, they represent the best of Chant. Please find a sample of Ensemble Discantuss singing below!
