As much as I dislike How I Met Your Mother and CBS in general, lets not go hating on her because she wants to get more exposure/money/opportunities outside the indie world. There is a dangerous gender double-standard going on. No one criticizes male actors for taking roles in shitty action movies, generic franchise fare, or even starring in bad sitcoms. Where is the outrage when Will Arnett or any other comedic actor does something like The Nut Job? When Jason Bateman, whose can simply stare his way to laughs on Arrested Development, phones-in a rom-com with Jennifer Anniston, where are the think pieces? Only when an actress, one who is the subject of obsession by millions of young guys across the Internet, decides to make money on show that won’t be a critical darling, but that will bring her exposure and money, do we riot.
