As much as I was heartbroken over the Orioles being swept, I dont - TopicsExpress

As much as I was heartbroken over the Orioles being swept, I dont think the Orioles winning the World Series could have been more emotionally satisfying as seeing my adopted team, The San Francisco Giants and Madison Bumgarner (I am, in fact, a historian) making baseball history last night. I thought I would experience schadenfreude seeing the Royals get beaten but I felt none of that. All I could feel was pure joy over seeing one of the most remarkable performances by a pitcher in Series history and seeing, perhaps, (I am a writer and I cannot find the words to convey it) one of the most compelling and thrilling Game Sevens in history and I have been watching baseball for many, many years. The only thing that even comes close is when Mazeroski hit his home run to beat the Yankees. I listened to that game in class at St. Matthews School. I think it was like the fourth grade, Miss Mohegan let us listen, the whole class erupted in cheers to hear the hated Yankees get beaten by another small-market blue-collar- city (Pittsburgh) team. youtube/watch?v=ix848GU0gNo
