As my wife was roped in by the Govt. to judge the floats and cultural displays of todays Republic Day Parade, I too was invited by them for being her Honourable husband !! I dutifully agreed to join her to attend the function. It was my first attendance at the Republic Day Parade. Entire Parade was wonderful, fabulous. We were included to sit in the VVIP enclosure, just next to the platform for the President. We shared the VVIP enclosure with Sonia / Rahul / Priyanka, pony-tailed Robert Vadra, LK Adwani, Chidambaram, Arvind Kejariwal, Somnath Bharati, Chief Justice of Supreme Court Sathashivam, Farooq Abdullah, Arun Jaitley, Salman Khurshid etc. 21-Gun salute was a nerve-rattling experience with a terrible burst of sound, being my first such experience. Smart Army / Navy / AF officers were quite impressive. A Defence Ministry official was deputed to pick up and drop us at our residence before and after the Parade. Overall, it was a memorable experience.
