As of 2010, Rwandas maternal and child health has been improving: The under-five mortality rate was lowered from 152 per 1,000 live births to 103 per 1,000 live births. The under-one mortality rate was lowered from 86 per 1,000 live births to 62 per 1,000 live births. The maternal mortality rate dropped from 750 per 100,000 live births to 383 per 100,000 live births. Rwanda achieved routine vaccinations of about 97% for diphtheria, tetanus, and Pertussis (whooping cough).
