As of 4PM to day I ended my 14 Plus Years as a Police Officer with The Union Township Police Department and ended my 44 Plus Years as a Police Officer. Due to a job related injury that led to a knee replacement I am unable to return to full duty. My 30 Years with Cincinnati Police and 14 Plus years with UTPD have been priceless and filled with cherished memories and at times heartbreaking tragedies, each of which had an impact and lasting effect on me and my family. When you are young and retirement is but a distant dream it seems like that day will never come and when it finally arrives its not as easy to walk away. I want to thank Union Township Administrator Ken Geis and Retired Police Chief Tom Knox, for affording me the opportunity to become a member of UTPD back on September 5, 2000. Thank You Retried Chief Zinser for your support during your tenure as Chief. Thanks to Chief Scott Gaviglia and Sgt. Scott Blankenship for continued support, guidance and leadership in my role as School Resource Officer. A special thank you to the Detectives in the UTPD Investigative Unit, for all of their help and especially their friendship. To the Supervisors and Road Patrol Officers, you are some of the best Law Enforcement Officers I have ever worked with. You always had my back when I need a little extra help at the school. You always stepped up to lend a helping hand with my reports, arrests and at times, the dreaded traffic post at GEHS. To the Record Section and Dispatch at UT, thank you for always checking on me when my radio was off wile I attended a MEETING, at least that is my story and Im sticking with it. Julie, thanks for always listening to my Chili Story. Thank You to the UTFD, I have the utmost respect for the Fire Fighters at UT and it was a positive learning experience when we worked on Fire Drills and Emergency Planning for the schools. Thanks to Dr. Keith Kline, The Board of Ed for West Clermont Local Schools and to the Staff and Administrators at the Elementary Schools. A special THANK YOU to the Faculty and Staff at GEHS and GEMS. The coffee, candy and beverages was a small price to pay for the information and conversation you shared with me. You made my job fun and easy, I cant thank you guys enough. To Transportation and the Bus Drivers, Thank You and I miss you all. To the students and the parents, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You... I had good days and bad. To those that I may have raised my voice to, I am sorry. For those students and parents that had thousands of opportunities to run me over during the AM and PM Traffic Duties. Thank You for missing me and remember to use all your fingers when you wave at the PoPo SRO Steve Siekbert, thank you for filling in and now the Job is Yours. GE, you are in Great Hands. At lastly thank you to my wife. Deirdre, you are my rock, I can never thank you enough or repay you for your love and support. Again, one last THANK YOU to all, Stay Safe and have a Great Life.
