As of last night I went 6-2 on my predictions. Considering I didnt take into account Tampa bays goalie situation (Lindback was poor in net. Should have played the Latvian Kristers Gudlevskis. The guy faced fifty something shots against the Canadian olympic team and only let in two.): id say I did pretty well. Round two begins tonight. Here are my thoughts. If you have no interest move along. Share your thoughts below otherwise. Boston vs Montreal: However I felt about the Bruins playing Detroit triple that feeling. Oh my god!!! For the love of Bobby Orr please dont get flustered by the Canadiens irritating tactics, dont retaliate to them and dont play their game. Play physical and get that penalty kill moving. Youre going to need it. Bruins take the series. Get the happy pills and booze out, because this series is going to be a frustrating nail biter thatll result in your tv exploding. Chicago vs Minnesota: I would have loved to see Colorado beat Minnesota and move on, but it wasnt in the cards. They need some help on the back end. Matt Niskanen of the Penguins would be a good fit. As for the prediction: Chicago will take the series. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane are awake and killing it on the ice. Minnesota just arent as complete as the Hawks are both offensively and defensively. The black hole known as Ilya Bryzgalov will be in net for Minnesota. Can he be a wild card? I dont think so, but it does give you something to think about. Anaheim vs LA: Find a 20 sided die and label the even numbers Anaheim and the odd numbers LA and roll it. Why do I say to do this? Because this series is going to be a repeat of the Boston vs Chicago stanley cup finale last summer. What I mean by that is every game is going to come down to some sort of diving bounce of the puck. These two teams are so good at what they do. Anaheim is a more balanced team while LA focuses more on defense. When I picked LA over the Sharks I felt Jonathan Quick would be the difference and he was. He was dreadful for the first three games and then woke up for the final four. I still believe hell be the difference maker for the Kings. Thats why im picking the Kings. Anaheim will not be a push over. Look out for Frederik Andersen. Hell be the Ducks difference maker. Pittsburgh vs NY Rangers: Daggumit Columbus why couldnt you pull this out? They missed Nathan Horton in that series. The guy may be a frustrating floater who doesnt play every game, but hes one of the best playoff performers out there. As for the Flyers: thanks guys. I wanted to see a blood bath, but instead I get meh. Looking at both teams: The Rangers will pull it out. Pittsburgh has no defense and no goaltending. For them it was scoring that won them the series against Columbus. Their scoring did just that. Columbus is still young and learning. The fact that they put up that much of a fight is a bad sign for the Penguins. Now theyre playing a more complete team with offense, defense and of course King Henrik himself in net. Rangers take the series and the King himself will be the difference maker.
