As of recently a few people have taken notice to my FB post regarding the changes I plan on making in 2015. Im asked what those changes will be? I understand while a few may actually care about me and are curious of what has me so stressed and unhappy these days, I also have grown to understand that the majority could give a shit less about me, my health, stress and the sacrifices I make so the changes I speak of have no concern to those? The misconception that those put out there that Im making shit loads of money doing what Im doing is not only far from the truth but also ridiculous. I own and operate Stratgazer out of the love of music, the love of a very few people Ive met and the challenge of the game itself. Up till now Ive operated trying to be everything to everyone and to make everyone happy. Funny how at my age I didnt know better. Yes, even I can say Ive learned a common and obvious lesson this late in life and in this business. Everyone has a opinion but opinions are like assholes....... So many want to criticize those out there trying to make things happen, they want to always look for the negative and make claims that things are broken and need fixed, they say its time for a revolution, lets take the scene back. Ive watched the same people say the same things for years. Arm chair quarterbacks. Big Facebook talk on Sunday but come Monday they scurry off to their day jobs forgetting about the problems and the music scene till the following Sunday. Some of theses people are musicians and the first to shit talk bands that are actually trying to succeed and take things to the next level. Its odd that the philosophy with these types seems to be that as long as they view your band being at the same level as theirs, your cool but if you dare try to be more, your the whipping post and given no respect. Wtf? Stratgazer has never been a weekend warrior gig for me. 7 days a week/24 hours a day I live and breath it. I know lots of musicians and other people in the local music scene that live and breath it too, funny how those people are never the ones pointing fingers are stirring the shit pot, they get it. Its real easy to not be doing anything positive or constructive but be the Facebook badass pointing your fingers and critiquing others that are busting ass, going broke, missing their family trying to make things happen. In the spirit of Christmas Ive put together my own naughty and nice list and in 2015 Ill follow it in regards to who I work with in all regards. I do share my list others in the business so they can avoid the scrutiny and disrespect. Something positive- nothing is broken. KC music is alive and well in all corners of this wonderful city. We have good bands from all genres out there busting ass not only here at home but also on the road bringing only positive attention to KC music. I know after reading this some of you will want to again criticize me and thats ok cause chances are your the ones I wont be working with anymore. To those that have allowed me to earn your respect and thus given it back, we are going to do some amazing things in 2015. Merry Christmas
