As of this moment the Starks Fire Department does not have a tanker. A surplus military deuce and a half has been setting in town that belongs to the Department of Conservation. They were in the process of taking it back. I spoke with one of the officers in the Maine Forestry Service and asked if there was any way that we could become owners of this vehicle. He is checking into this and is going to call me back. Two of the biggest problems faced by small rural community fire departments is the lack of manpower and a readily available water source. We are hoping to obtain ownership of this vehicle. If it is available, it will be given to the town at no cost. Bill Pressey
