As oil prices fall below $2/gallon in some areas of the country, - TopicsExpress

As oil prices fall below $2/gallon in some areas of the country, try not to forget the way this fuel is produced and transported. Moving oil is inherently dangerous but with the increase in rail lines transporting millions of barrels along some of the countrys most beautiful landscape, the safety measures currently in place are failing to stop the derailments and explosions continuing to occur. Next time you are sitting at a railway crossing watching a train go by, I urge you to count the number of oil cars speeding past and take a second to think about the impact just one of those derailing in your town would produce. We can do a better job at pushing for legislation and safety mandates that make these cars runaway bombs, but first we must realize how close these trains come to our every day lives.
