ANAM along with the City of Port Phillip this year are excited to announce the return of ANAM Quartetthaus for the 2014 Melbourne Festival. An extraordinary fusion of music, architecture and design, ANAM Quartetthaus is a unique listening space. A celebration of intimate, live performance that is an experience unlike any other in Melbourne. Following an acclaimed season at the 2011 Melbourne Festival, the Australian National Academy of Music’s one-of-a-kind, purpose-built performance space is back. Created by theatrical innovators Bluebottle, ANAM Quartetthaus is an extraordinary fusion of music, architecture and design, offering a daringly intimate and breathtakingly visceral take on the traditional concert hall. With musicians playing in the round, and only 52 seats in the venue, no audience member is ever more than two metres from the performers, making for an extraordinary and intimate concert experience. As part of Melbourne Festivals Haydn for Everyone, ANAMs string quartets will present 24 performances in ANAM Quartetthaus over one week. Saturday 11 - Saturday 18 October 1pm, 7:30pm and 9pm each day. A series of eight programs will be repeated throughout the week and include workds by Haydn, Beethoven, Shostakovich, Janáček, Dvořák or Schubert.
