As our city is mourning the loss of yet another child tragically murdered, I want to thank and acknowledge the people I am aware of who have rolled up their sleeves during this time of deep sorrow. Kerry Glover, Pga Gordy Harrison Jamiel L. Alexander Stick N Move Bud Kyle Erik Mann Kevin Glover Mike Smith Kevin Patrick Winter Dommonick Chatman and Sherry Roland Washington Some are coaches, friends, mentors, and father figures for many. They volunteer their time, make sacrifaces, donate money, drive kids all over the city and ask for nothing in return. They, along with other concerned leaders, are actively meeting with our children and residents to begin the healing process. I personally want to thank them and everyone else who has stepped up to the plate. Our community has hit an all time low... The recent murder of Guss along with the many youth we have lost before him, has forced us to move into a PROACTIVE direction. Our hearts are heavy, heavier than theyve ever been. The FB posts reflect how sad and heartbroken we truly are but we must do more than just post. Most of our fix is free... Kindness, Respect, Encouragement, Determination, Quality Time, Hugs, Love, Safety, Manners, Morals, Accountability, Appreciation, High Expectations, Being Parents not friends, etc... We need to be PROACTIVE AND NOT REACTIVE. This is York City not New York City. This is a small city where everyone knows everyone. Where our kids grew up together, went to school and played sports together. Went to church together... What has happened is tragic but is fixable if everyone does just a LITTLE something. York is prideful and we cant and wont quit! Our children need positive and concerned role models more than ever. Their actions are screaming for help. Our children arent born killers. They need to spread their wings on earth and fly to heaven once they have lived a full life and not before. STRENGTH IN NUMBERS.... LETS DO THIS!!!
