As part of International Education Week commemorations, EducationUSA Malawi were treated to a fun-filled motivating session focused on Leadership facilitated by the U.S. Marines of Detachment Lilongwe on Monday November 17th . Led by Sgt. Mckinney, four Marines presented to secondary school students from Chisamba Secondary School and EducationUSA members about the leadership qualities being a U.S. Marine has instilled in them and how they apply those skills in their lives in order to excel and succeed. Students learned about the U.S. military system, the hierarchy of the Marine Corps and most importantly the leadership traits that embody the spirit and bond of “Semper Fidelis” which means “Always Faithful”. Take-away lessons that the U.S. Embassy Marine Detachment gave to the students was that they should be knowledgeable in all that they do in order to be an effective leader in their classrooms, and teams and that they should not be afraid of taking the initiative and finding solutions to Malawi’s problems.
