As part of National Homeless Persons’ Week, several Toowoomba organisations and agencies are planning a week long campaign to raise awareness of Homelessness in Toowoomba. Holding their annual Homeless Persons Week BBQ & Expo on Monday the 5th of August 11AM – 1PM next door to the Toowoomba City Library, there will be information stalls, a free barbecue, visual arty displays and key note speakers Dr Phil Crane and and Grant Richards. Following this event there will be daily challenges: DAY 1: Monday 5th Homeless Expo & BBQ Join us at Alford Place (beside the Library) for the Homeless Expo & BBQ 11AM - 1PM DAY 2: Tuesday 6th Sip for a Swag Buy a coffee from Bounce (488 Ruthven Street - near Cotton On In) and up to $1.00 per coffee will go towards purchasing swags for Toowoomba’s homeless. DAY 3: Wednesday 7th Do the Two Can Donate non-perishable food to The Basement (@ 10 Neil Street Toowoomba. All donated items will be used for food parcels and in the soup kitchen. DAY 4: Thursday 8th Lend a Hand Lend a hand to one of our incredible service agencies to help those that are homeless and at risk of homelessness to find volunteering opportunities visit volunteeringqld.org.au/web/index.php/volunteering/volunteer DAY 5: Friday 9th Three Steps Most people are only 3 payments away from being homeless. Consider what your circumstances would be if you lost your income for the next 3 months… could you be homeless? What actions do you need to take to ensure you are not homeless in the future? DAY 6: Saturday 10th Sleepless in Toowoomba Sleep on the couch, in the back yard or wherever… try one night without your bed DAY 7: Sunday 11th Spring clean Spring Clean for Homelessness Go through your wardrobe and donate some quality goods to drop things to the Life House storage at The Old Milk Factory @ 57 Brook Street Toowoomba between 1PM-3PM Hope you can take the challenge!!!
