As part of government’s commitment to achieve its target of 5000MW of sustainable and reliable energy by 2016, the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum has commenced the construction of two emergency power barges to add additional 450MW of power to the national grid to curb issues associated with electricity demand in the country. Government has therefore contracted Messrs Karadeniz Power Group/ Karpower of Turkey, a renowned global Powership Manufacturing company to build the two barges, each to provide 225MW of power to augment the country’s current power generation capacity.
