As part of his Summer of Reading Neighborhood Challenge, Mayor Michael B. Hancock will be hosting an ice cream social at the Ford-Warren Branch Library on Friday, July 26, 11:30 a.m. The Ford-Warren branch was the winner of the Mayor’s competition to “have the greatest increase in Summer of Reading sign-ups during the first two weeks of the program.” Overall, they won by a landslide by increasing their registration from last year by over 80%. To date, they have nearly 1,200 kids participating. The Library’s is well on its way to achieve its goal of 40,000 participants throughout the summer. “I’m so proud of our neighborhood kids,” says Ford-Warren Branch’s Senior Librarian, Annie Kemmerling, “we are just thrilled to have the Mayor here to celebrate this accomplishment and for all his support of the Summer of Reading program.”
