As part of my Read or Read Again 100 Classics before I get to be 30 I started back up with the Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling. On Thursday I devoted myself to reading the short stories that fill up the pages where it doesnt follow Mowgli while I had looked up how to speak the names for The Undertaker and Purun Dass just for curiosity sake. What surprised me is I came across a website that had the notes and the pronunciation that Kipling had originally intended. Although they have made the reading somewhat easier they have also given me a surprise for I and the rest of the Disney-following world havent been following the right pronunciation so this time around I have given myself to reading it with his pronunciations. So far the reading is a bit so-and-so since it is reading against what I was taught against. I dont know if I am liking it though but I am truly going to keep the guide with the books just for future times.....
