As part of our Student Lecture Series, which is an intern mentoring program for high school and college students, the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum will be hosting a public presentation July 21st at 4 p.m. in our classroom. Victoria Penrose, an Undergraduate Student at Southern Methodist University, and Mckenzie Smith, an Undergraduate Student at College of William and Mary, will present their research findings through a student-led lecture to their peers, the public, and to Presidential Library and Museum docents in a lecture hall setting. Victoria Penrose will be presenting her research findings on the Re-emergence of Cold War vocabulary and attitudes, particularly towards religion and gender issues after September 11th. This topic is focused on the comparison between the Cold War and Post- 9/11 America, both socially and politically. McKenzie Smith will wrap up the lecture with her research on American foreign policy towards Israel during President Bush’s first administration; particularly focusing on the relationship between Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and President Bush. The research presentations will be recorded and posted online for use as Teacher Guides. Past presentations are available on our website at bit.ly/TAKR8U. This is open to the general public.
