As part of the Envision dialogues, the Singapore Environment Council has been reaching out to various groups of people in Singapore to find out what is the grounds-up vision for the environment for the future. From corporate companies to NGOs, professionals to grassroots organisations, public service officers to students, there is one message which has been very loud and clear which most, if not all dialogue participants have agreed with – our environment is precious and we must do our part to protect it. We are blessed with clean drinking water, and fresh air almost all year round. Additionally, we have thousands of cleaners whose daily duties are to continue keeping Singapore clean and green. However, there is a part for all of us to play to protect the environment and its resources. So on Earth Day 2014, it is my wish that each individual does something personal as a gesture to doing your part for the environment. Throw that bottle into the recycle bin; stop that tap from dripping; switch off when not in use; share what you did with a friend and have him/her share it with another friend. A simple act will go a long way in making a difference. You can make a difference.
