As part of their annual charity activities during the month of Ramadan, the alumni of the Kennedy-Lugar Youth and Study (YES) Program held on 16 July, 2014 the 5th annual Iftar for 100 orphans aged 5-12 years old from Al Natheef Islamic Charitable Society, at Burger King. YES alumni played some fun games with the kids and distributed gifts among them. YES alumnus Basel Najjar, who led the organization of the event said, “the planning, fundraising, and execution require a lot of effort from everyone who is involved. Our mission and goal every year is to make it the best and most unforgettable event in the childrens lives. We aim at creating happy moments to brighten their days”. YES alumna Salsabeel Mufleh, who also played a big role in the success of the event, spoke on behalf of the Jordanian YES Alumni Association saying, “Giving is part of our duty to our community. Without it we will stay apart. There is no doubt that we do experience the most joy when we perform an act of giving; giving back to our community”.
