As part of this annual celebration, the National Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service Office awards this year’s PSAS Service of the Year Award to the Montana Health Care System, Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service. This competitive award recognizes the vital contributions of the PSAS staff at the Montana VA Medical Center in the enhancement of service delivery through standardized processes and their demonstrated commitment to improving access to care in rural area. To list just a few of the ways Montana PSAS has demonstrated they are “Touching Lives and Improving Outcomes”: • Development of 49 Standard Operating Procedures for various PSAS processes and procedures that are updated regularly as processes evolve • Montana stood up a Tele-Amputee clinic in collaboration with Denver Regional Amputation Center • Tracking “lessons learned” via a Continuity Book created to communicate and list critical items of importance which strengthened relationships between PSAS and major stakeholders • Direct impact on access to care in rural areas through the implementation of a satellite Prosthetic Office and Inventory location to serve Veterans in a highly rural area. VAMC Montana and VISN 19 should indeed be proud of the work being accomplished in Montana. Please join me in congratulating our colleagues in Montana VA Medical Center for their outstanding work as a service and dedication to our core mission of caring for our nation’s Veterans! Penny L. Nechanicky National Director, Prosthetic & Sensory Aids (10P4RK) Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Services, VA Central Office
