As predicated more campaign “ads” were in our and your mailboxes today. One very nice professional looking card, done in color, asking you to support the team of Blackman, Hannan &Ciciotti. An envelope with no return address on it but once you open it you see where it was written by Sweden Town Supervisor Patti Connors. The other mail item was sent from a “message from Mayor Maria Connie Castaneda of 332 Main Street, Brockport, NY 14420”. This three page mailing was all done in black and white. First item was a copy of what appears to be an article from the D&C. It’s hard to tell since the Mayor didn’t bother identifying her source. Big head line that lets the reader know the criminal charges against the Mayor were dropped. However Connie STILL faces Village Code charges in Ogden court. Next sheet of paper is the one with the three “taxpayer first” candidates. “How can you describe Mayor Castaneda?” is the question. None of the choices in that article is how too many people would describe the Mayor. On the lower half of the ad it goes on to list “Mayor Castaneda’s accomplishments”. “Frugal fiscal leadership”. This is the Mayor who hired a part-time treasurer for $60.00 per hour. Maybe that is FRUGAL….it could have been $100.00 per hour. This one is laugh out loud funny. “Saved the Village from financial ruin in 2010” How did she do that? We want details the public needs to know how this was done. Come on Connie that should be you whole ad list the ways you “saved the Village”. You and Dan Kuhan wanted to dissolve the Village not save it. Question how can you turn $80,000+ in saving to $100,000s in health care savings? If you are Connie it is easy you change the numbers from one ad to the next and hope no one picks up on it. I think that is enough about that misinformation sheet. The last sheet begins by talking about again how frugal Connie has been over the years. “above all, to make Brockport affordable for residents…” I guess by threatening to sue the Village (which she is only doing not only for own benefit but yours as well) show how frugal you are. “Creation of a Village Court to make revenue” Mayor Connie is against that. After all you, the Village taxpayer, foot the bill for the BPD to go out and do the job why would should you ,the taxpayers, think you should be entitled to any money generated by the TOWN OF SWEDEN COURT? Connie claims that a Village court takes money out of your pocket…only if you break the law just like it is now. News flash Connie the State sets the fines not the court so the same amount of money would be charged by a town or Village Court. Connie says “it is not a crime to explore all options. It is a democratic choice.” Then why is she so against exploring the benefits of a Village Court? “knowing the importance of research to explore alternatives” but yet she isn’t in favor of doing that for a court system that could return some money to the very people who pay for BPD. Lastly Connie writes that “I respect the opinion of all people I represent (if you live out of the Village she could care less about you thoughts or ideas) and will uphold the majority’s choice.” If that is truly the case the vote on the sewer fee was taken and she lost. Accept the majority’s choice and stop trying to push higher sewer fees onto snowbirds and other low water users. Remember if you poop you pay. Not really going to get into the letter from the Town of Sweden mainly because it too long and boring and most people probably never fished reading it anyway. Other than to say that in part of letter she (Connors) talks about “the Village’s first contract with a collection agency. It was illegal and it was ridiculously costly to the village.” Let’s see who on the current Village board was on that board during the Wexler term as Mayor? Yep Connie was on that board. Connie agreed to enter into an “illegal contract” and it was “ridiculously costly to the Village”? Well there you have folks from the Sweden Town Supervisor Connie is NOT looking out for the best interest of the Village and she is NOT frugal. Don’t count on someone else to do your job. Please get out and Vote on June 18 from 12:00 pm to 9:00pm at 49 State Street in Brockport. Please vote some honor and truthfulness to the Village Board by voting for Blackman, Hannan & Ciciotti.
