As promised, Alan Jacksons recipe for a merrier Christmas: Alan’s Eggnog Serves 8 If you want to take your holiday cheer (and flavor) to the next level, spring for whole nutmeg that you grate yourself, rather than powdered nutmeg. 1 pint heavy whipping cream 1 ¼ cups sugar 6 eggs, yolks and whites separated ¾ cup bourbon whiskey 1/3 cup light rum 1 quart whole milk Nutmeg, optional Whip the cream until stiff, adding ¼ cup sugar towards the end. In another bowl, whip the egg whites and ½ cup sugar until stiff. In a third, larger bowl, whip the egg yolks and remaining ½ cup sugar until creamy. Add the bourbon and rum to the whipped egg yolk mixture. Stir in the milk. Combine all the ingredients and chill. To serve, top with a sprinkle of nutmeg, if desired. Enjoy.
