As promised earlier today, we stated we would share a few of the MULTIPLE letters we receive from Fulton County residents on a daily basis. It is yet another example of unprofessional employees who are inconveniencing the public with mis-information, endangering animals and needlessly occupying space that other animals desperately need with a limited facility. Again, this tax paying resident of FULTON COUNTY went unanswered by FCAS leadership: SUBMITTED TO FCAS RE-FORM FOR PUBLIC RELEASE: A week ago my cat escaped from my house and ran to my neighbors house. She scratched my neighbor who called FCAS and had her taken away. As soon as we found out what happened, we went to FCAS to retrieve her. They told me that since she scratched somebody she must stay there in quarantine for 10 days for rabies observation. My family and I researched the Georgia Statutes and Fulton County Ordinanaces on rabies and quarantine. The Fulton County ordinance said that dogs or cats that BITE somebody must be held at FCAS in quarantine, but said nothing about scratches. We also obtained a copy of the affidavit that our neighbor signed when they went out for the cat and it wasnt sworn by a notary (as required by law). We informed the staff at FCAS and they were very condescending and told us the law is wrong and proceeded to show us their book of procedures. We wrote to the director and got in contact with the county attorney, who also contacted the director. We got permission to home quarantine her, which made us very happy. We never got a response from the director and as my first direct contact with the FCAS, I was very disappointed at their accountability and organization. ___________________________________________________________ THIS IS NOT WHAT THE FULTON COUNTY TAX PAYERS AND FULTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WERE PROMISED WHEN APPROVING NEW COMPASSIONATE, QUALIFIED, COMPETENT LEADERSHIP.
