As promised …here is the first rerun of I Love Lucid…. Help Lucid solve the problem. Can you provide the answer? Lucid and Edsel are enjoying their morning coffee together as they prepare to head off to work. Lucids Grandson had spent the weekend with Tricky and Lucid. The three had taken a hike and viewed the newest tourist attraction in Maine: the windmill farm in Rangeley. The grandson is ready for school, today, and is now getting his science project ready for display at the school science fair. The grandson demonstrates his undertaking for Lucid and Edsel. The endeavor involves making a battery-like apparatus from salt water and other agents which electrically powers a small cardboard fan. Edsel and Lucid are impressed when it works well for a few seconds. Lucid is struck with an idea which she shares with Edsel. They both call out from work and begin drafting a project of their own. 3 hours later, Lucid and Edsel present the idea to the EPA who quickly endorses the plan. In a few weeks, The Obama Administration grants them $50 billion for start-up costs. 6 Months later, the venture is fully in place and functioning. The brilliant strategy involves connecting a huge grid of electrical lines to a massive battery-like construction deep in the salty Atlantic Ocean off of the Maine coast. The salt-water generated electrical current drives 83,000 enormous windmills placed on the border of Maine and Canada. The draft from the windmills draws the cool air from the polar vortex and blasts it past the Mason-Dixon line into the entire Southern Region of the United States. This allows Southerners to no longer be required to use individual air conditioning in the summers, thus reducing Freon damage to the ozone and all but eliminating huge bills for electricity for air conditioners. The Polar Vortexans (Lucid and Edsels company) are funded by a small fee quietly inserted by the Utilities Commission into every utility, water, phone, and cable bill of every American each month. Unexpectedly, the project is halted and the program is shut down due to an unintended consequence…. 1. Can you figure out the unintended consequence ? 2.
