As promised, here is the weekly update email regarding the Hayling - TopicsExpress

As promised, here is the weekly update email regarding the Hayling Billy Trail project either end of Langstone Bridge. We are making good progress so far and are broadly on schedule although we have lost 1½ days due to the weather so far. Substantial completion is still expected to be on 11th April, although other ancillary works will continue beyond this date. We have poured the whole of the concrete base slab for the retaining wall, built the majority of the facing blockwork for the upright section of the wall, and extended the drainage pipes through the blockwork wall. The blockwork allows us to get a smooth curve following the road as it curves up onto the Bridge and in effect forms the permanent front face of the retaining wall. Behind it the main structural concrete element of the wall is to be poured (see attached photos), to which the blockwork wall is structurally joined using wall ties. We expect to pour the concrete forming the first half of this wall tomorrow, subject to satisfactory weather conditions. This will again require the concrete lorry to sit on the road with stop/go boards being used to control traffic for the 20-25 minutes it will take to place the concrete. The second part of the wall is planned for Monday next week, after which the coping layer will be poured, again in two sections, later in the week. The request for drivers to slow down to 30mph as they pass the works does not appear to have significantly affected traffic flow and is being widely observed. The lower speed is required due to the lack of railings along sections of the works. I also aim to update the HBC website each week, before or after the weekend, so in effect this will give you another progress update a few days after this email goes out. The web page is at havant.gov.uk/hayling-billy-trail/hayling-billy-trail-phase-4 and includes a question and answer section.
