As promised, heres another short video clip from Ryans first @advancedbionics cochlear implant activation on Monday. This was filmed as the audiologist turned it on for the second time at level 2, which is still VERY soft so he doesnt startle. As an update for 3 days post activation: he is doing phenomenally. We (and his nurses and therapists) are all noticing a huge increase in eye contact, interest in people and toys, exploration, AND...Im not sure if this is related to his new sense of hearing or not, but all of a sudden he is getting braver about standing without holding on to anything, and he is looking more and more each day like he might take his first unassisted steps! We have a follow up mapping appointment this coming Monday where they will turn the volume up closer to what will be his normal. We could use lots of good thoughts, prayers, etc that all goes well for him that day!
