As reported by WWL, upon hearing rumors that CBS is considering moving the Late Show when Stephen Colbert takes over for David Letterman, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu sent a letter to CBS chief executive officer Les Moonves to pitch New Orleans has the new host city of the show. Los Angeles, who no longer hosts the Tonight Show after it moved to New York with the placement of Jimmy Fallon, has been courting the network. Landrieu is pitching the idea that the Late Shows production in New Orleans would be a lot cheaper than most cities due to the tax credit program for film in Louisiana. The show would also have instant access to stars working on the latest Hollywood films in the area. The Late Show with David Letterman currently airs in New York Citys Ed Sullivan Theater as it has for decades. Could you imagine Stephen Colbert hosting the Late Show in New Orleans with a local Crescent City house band? You have to at least applaud the mayors ambition on this one. #LateShowWithStephenColbert2NOLA
