As requested: My Decade with Donald There was this ol’ boy trainee that showed up to my lair With a perfect po-lice moustache and not so perfect hair I thought I was something special till Donald came along He hacked computer programs he showed me where I was wrong And I didn’t wanna like him that pinche trainee there That specialized in nerdom it wasnt even fair I tried to avoid him but my unit he was on And in processing they loved him I just wanted him be gone Jealousy aside you couldn’t miss his voice He talked over everyone so I didn’t have a choice We had many similarities we studied the same books And from all the cool kids we got the same dirty looks Turns out this nerd could juggle he knew of Trek and Who A fan of useless trivia a bible thumper too Oh variety of thought that one would surely find If you could crawl up there deep into his mind And in Arizona and in spite of record fun Our narratives were better than nearly everyone He started an arch rival I quickly found I had a friend And then off to Artesia we teamed up once again He knew the law and teaching was quick with military wit He barked out a good ass chewing several washed up trainees quit I don’t know what struck him but it got into his head And he started showing up to work with home baked loaves of bread When we became the bosses we tried to do it right Computers, books, and study, deep into the night Remember chocolate bacon that camper on his truck I still use my Brorsen mug like I don’t give a….hoot The guy ran a freakin marathon he braved the Alpine hell Became a SCUBA diver and did it all so well And that’s just in this decade and do you see the wealth Knowing someone who can find his pride stacking Pepsi on a shelf There may never be another that graces my short life Like the friend I have in Donald and his children and his wife And though I do not see him quite as often anymore I hear him right there with me when something new I do explore Offering his analysis, his advocacy, his advice The friendship I have with Donald, is a friendship I have for life
