As she waited for the elevator, she looked up at a painting on the wall that so entranced her that she never heard the elevator doors open and shut again. In the painting she saw the riveting eyes of a child and a flood of memories rushed into her mind, flashes of her childhood, when she had pretended to be a celebrity, the people who applauded when she put on shows with her homemade dolls, how her parents had boasted of her beauty and talent, always making her feel important, significant, loved. Tears came to her eyes as she realized that achieving her dream would never have happened had she not first had the dream and had the support of those people who encouraged her, made her realize her strengths, and helped build up her courage to face new challenges in life. Now, her challenge was to try to live up to those role models, to make sure that her loved ones felt that same support, that same pride, that same love.
